The new entry level Epson Stylus S21 promises to be cheap solution for your everyday printing tasks and going by the price tag it seems to be just that. The price of an inkjet printer shouldn’t be judged on it price tag alone, printer ink cartridges are where printer manufactures make their profits and this makes them expensive. Epson S21 ink cartridges are no more expensive than most other printer cartridges in fact they’re reasonable in comparison but still expensive when compared to the price of the S21 printer itself. One surprising feature of the Stylus S21 is its build quality, the plastic feel solid and should stand up to trails of everyday use with the exception of the paper feed try support which feels a weak. Print quality is also good; the S21 is capable of printing photos up to A4 size on a variety of paper media including gloss, satin and matte photo papers. Although the quality is there the S21 doesn’t make a very good printer for photos because it is far too slow, even the smallest of photos (6×4) takes over five minutes to print and if you are printing more than ten photos your looking at more than an hour! Document printing is not much better, amazingly Epson claim that the S21 can print 25 pages per minute but is a ridiculous claim and numerous test shave shown it capable of no more than 8 pages per minutes in its lowest quality setting. Overall the Stylus S21 is great as long as you’re not planning on doing any large printing jobs with it.
